As of October 10, 2025, the Board of Directors at the Pride Center of Vermont have made the difficult decision to pause operations due to critical funding shortfalls. We recognize that this change is significant and will have deep and lasting impacts on our LGBTQ+ community. While we hold space for the grief and uncertainty this may bring, our priority at SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program has and always will be to support LGBTQ+ survivors.

In response, we at SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program are working closely with The Vermont Network to ensure that our work of showing up for LGBTQ+ survivors continues long beyond this operational pause. This transition will not be immediate, but we are moving as quickly and thoughtfully as possible to reduce disruptions and ensure survivors feel the least amount of impact during this time. Our goal is to preserve continuity of care and maintain access to affirming, trauma-informed support.

During this transitional period, we’ve partnered with Steps to End Domestic Violence to provide chatline coverage. Their advocates are trained to support LGBTQ+ survivors and bring a trauma-sensitive, survivor-centered approach to every conversation. Steps to End Domestic Violence is a trusted, values-aligned organization whose advocates are trained to support LGBTQ+ survivors. They work in trauma-sensitive, survivor-centered ways, and we are confident in their ability to provide compassionate, affirming care to all who reach out.
